Sights: A Crazy Adventure in HONG KONG

One of the integral part of why Hong Kong is flocked by tourist all year round is shopping. But since the 3 JS brothers are not that into shopping. We went and had one crazy adventure.

We arrived HK in the morning, we checked in at Dorsett Far East Hotel. Though the hotel is quite far from the more popular areas in HK. But for HK standards, we got a nice spacious room with 3 separate beds for each of us. The hotel is located at the end of the red line, Tsuen Wan MTR station.

After checking in we headed to Traveleasy Ltd to buy tickets for Ocean Park and Disneyland. This place sells entrance tickets at a cheaper price compared to buying it at the entrance of the theme parks. It is located at Shop 316, 3/F, Worldwide House, 19 Des Vouex Road Central, Central MTR Exit B.

Off to Ocean Park we go...

One thing i still remember the first time I visited HK was Ocean Park's cable car. But after re-riding it again, the thrill wasn't there anymore.

Ocean Park's Cable Car
There was a train that would take you from one point to the other. The train had screens inside that made you feel that you were inside a submarine.

One of the highlights of the park are the huge and cute Pandas. The huge and adorable Pandas are absolutely fun to look at.

The Bros couldn't resist to have their picture taken with the mascot.

Of course the main attraction of the theme park are the different marine life it houses. The big aquariums and spectacular shows are still one of the reason why Ocean Park is a must visit.

The theme park was huge but aside from the marine life and shows, we were not that ecstatic about the place.

We rushed to the Avenue of Stars to catch the Symphony of Lights show. But since it was too foggy to be able to view the light show, we just looked at the Celebrity Stars and fooled around.

Lights, Camera, ACTION!

The next day, we were off to Ngong Ping 360. A 5.7 kilometer cable car ride that gives you an awesome view of evergreen trees and plants. We opted to purchase a roundtrip standard cabin for HK$ 115 per peson. A crystal cabin would cost HK$ 169.

The cable car ride ended in Ngong Ping Village where there are souvenir shops and snack bars.

From the village, the Big Buddha awaits after trekking for about 15 to 20 minutes.

We were supposed to count how many steps would it take to get to to the top but we got too preoccupied....

When we got to the top, there were monks who started chanting and praying. As soon as they started  chanting, everyone around the area stood in silence.

It was a cold and foggy morning....the trip back was agonizingly cold ...

All three of us grew up and bonded through watching the Disney Channel. Though we heard a lot of rants about the place, we were looking forward to experience the magical feeling in Disneyland. Even if we were still not stepping on Disney grounds, the magical feeling already started as the train swooshed by.

Upon entering Disneyland, all three of us understood what the magical feeling is, it felt like turning into little boys again. It was an indescribable feeling, all the happy memories of being a kid flashed before our eyes as we saw familiar faces.

Disneyland featured different shows to catch...

When we saw the Disney Parade, we found ourselves actually waving at mascots. Three grown up men waving at mascots?!?, that's how powerful the magical feeling was.

One of our most watched movie of all time is the Lion King, it was nice to watch this mini-play and re-live the moments. Even if it lasted for less then 30 minutes, the show was beautifully and elaborately staged.

The Golden Mickeys is an awards show like the Oscars. With big production numbers and cool interactive effects. Effects like... when Arial, the Little Mermaid was dancing and swimming around the stage, there were floating bubbles all around the theatre.

As the showed ended, there was a big bang as the confetti showered the audience.

We all left with a heavy heart wanting to see and experience more. As we made our way to the exit, we all agreed on one thing, we'll definitely be back!

The next morning we headed to HK's highest point, The Peak. We got the HK$ 200 combo tickets which included the Tram Ride, entrance to the Sky Terrace and Madame Tussauds.

Tram Ride

We had so much fun inside Madame Tussauds as we gamely pose with the different life like wax statues of different famous personlaities. We all went crazily happy in here....

At the Sky Terrace, buildings looked puny compared to viewing it from below.

We were so surprised to find a beggar at the Peak....

As we rode the plane back home tired and all, the three JS bros will always remember one hell of a crazy adventure in Hong Kong.
